A Joint Meeting held, at the Mannargudi MLA office on last friday regarding opening ceremoney of mannargudi railway station, also attended by TR Balu MP, other party members and locales.
During the meeting it was assured by Mr Balu that Mannai express will be operational by this month end, opening ceremony will be done by calling some central railway minister named Dinesh Trivedi, also informed detailed train timings of Mannai Express !!! train from Mannargudi leave at 9.00pm and reaches chennai at 5.55 am, similarly a train will start from Chennai at 09.15 pm and reaches mannai at 6.35 am, authenticated news in this regard is expected shortly from railway announcement.
In an news clipping on DD on 18th september, it was informed Mannargudi railway station opening ceremony will be held on 27th sep 2011 at 4 pm, inauguration by Central railway minister Dinesh Trivedi.
This Diwali people can travel to Mannargudi by Train.

delaying this train is a sad thing as this a long dream of the people of mannargudi, so i call all the noble minded people irespective of their political differences to make the flagging off of mannai express a reality.

T.No.16180 Mannargudi – Chennai Egmore Mannai Express will leave Mannargudi at 21.15 hrs. and arrive Chennai Egmore at 05.50 hrs. the next day. The composition of the trains will be 1 First AC-cum-AC 2 tier, 1 AC 2-tier, 1 AC 3-tier, 7 Sleeper Class, 6 General Second Class and 2 luggage-cum-brake van coaches. The trains will stop at Tambaram, Chengalpattu, Tiruppadirippuliyur, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai, Kumbakonam, Thanjavur and Nidamangalam. T.No.16180 will stop at Mambalam also.

Mannargudi station code is MQ. Irctc did not display this station first. But since 28-Sep, it is being displayed. So you can book to Mannargudi

ReplyDeleteTirupati-MannargudiTri-weekly Express which was announced in the current Railway Budget will be inaugurated on 3rd July, 2012 from Tirupati.
ReplyDeleteThe regular run of the train will commence on 4th July, 2012 from Mannargudi and on 5th July, 2012 from Tirupati.
Accordingly on its regular run, Train no. 17408 Mannargudi-Tirupati Tri-weekly Express will depart Mannargudi at 05 30 hrs on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and arrive Tirupati at 16 35 hrs on thesame day. In the return direction, train no. 17407 Tirupati-Mannargudi tri-weekly express will depart Tirupati at 10 40 hrs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and arrive Mannargudi at 22 35 hrs on the same day. Enroute, these trains will stop at Pakala, Chittoor, Katpadi, Vellore Cant., Arni Raod, Tiruvannamalai, Tirukkovilur, Villupuram, Cuddalore Port, Chidambaram, Sirkazhi, Mayiladudurai, Perlam, Thiruvaur and Nidamangalam.
The timings of these trains areincorporated in the Southern Zone Railway Time Table-July 2012 issue.
