Mannargudi and GAIL

There are some prospective news for Mannargudi's development, following is one more-

Gas India Limited (GAIL) has assured people of 23 villages in Thanjavur and Tiruvarur districts where it plans to go in for exploratory drilling that they would be compensated for land taken from them if gas is struck and adequate pollution control measures put in place.
If oil or gas is found, GAIL would give compensation, take up infrastructure development, create job opportunities and protect the environment. If not, the land would be restored to its original form, Vinay Prasad, deputy general manager of GAIL India Ltd and CS Singh, chief manager told the villagers at a meeting at Mannargudi yesterday.
The officials sought to dispel fears about pollution, saying surface soil would be removed with modern equipment after identifying an underground field of hydrocarbon reserves. The land would be taken for one year and compensation amount fixed to farmers' satisfaction, they said.
They pointed out that 20 villages in Mannargudi and Thiruthuraipoondi blocks in Tiruvarur district with rich hydrocarbon reserves are not close to Muthupettai mangrove reserve forests or the Udhayamarthandapuram and Point Calimere birds santuaries.
GAIL plans to drill three exploratory wells — two in Tiruvarur district and one in Thanjavur.
Tiruvarur Collector S Natarajan, who also took part in the meeting, requested GAIL to lay the oil or gas pipeline one metre below the surface and ensure proper casing.
S Ranganathan, secretary, Cauvery Delta Farmers Welfare Association said they had no objection to drilling for oil or gas, but steps should be taken to ensure agricultural activities and the environment were not affected while laying pipelines.

WiFi Internet in Indian Trains

In March 2012, K. H. Muniyappa, the Minister of State for Railways, had informed the Parliament of India, that the Railways was planning to provide Internet facility in three rakes (group of coaches or wagons) of Howrah Rajdhani Express on a pilot basis. The minister had stated that the facility would work on a satellite based system and that the connection will be shared across railway coaches through Wi-Fi. The service is expected to be rolled out by September 25, 2012 and is estimated to cost Rs 6.30 crore for the Railway department.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has also given its clearance to the railways in May to offer internet connectivity in moving trains, using a satellite based connection through KU band frequency.

This is a good news, If it is implemented it is one of the finest thing to happen on railway customer service.

All is not well-Human Psychology

Warfare is barbaric by nature. The Mongolians were one of the most cruel and blood thirsty war mongers in Asia during the 10th to 13th century. They would often kill, rape and plunder for sheer sadistic joy. Once they told one prisoner, `We are going to kill you in an entertaining way! Lets see how long you take to die when blood slowly drains from your body !'

They tied that prisoner to the wall, made a slight cut in the veins of his forearm and blood began to drain from the cut. The drops of blood made a feeble but unmistakable sound as it fell on the floor. In a few minutes the prisoner was blindfolded. The blood had stopped dripping within a few minutes but the dripping noise was made to continue by using a leaking pot filled with water. The prisoner listening to the sound was convinced he is going to die. He was screaming for mercy. Even though his blood flow had stopped he thought that blood was draining from his body. He grew paler with every passing minute.

`Any moment I am going to die' was his thinking. He imagined hearing the sound of dripping blood while it was only water. He gave up on himself. In an few hours the prisoner died.

The imagination of his blood dripping continuously was sufficient to kill him. The reason for his death was his mere thoughts impacting his feelings and thereby impacting his body that led to his death.

Do you know what happens when you think this way?

My luck is not with me-No one loves me-This is too tough for me-Will he leave me and go away- I don't have a strong team-They are much better than us-Its very tiring-Things will never improve-I can never stick to things-I cannot wake up in the mornings-I have tried but I just cannot give up on my bad habits-My boss is so `un co-operative'-My past haunts me-My work is never rewarded nor recognized.

Weak people are ordinary people with weak thoughts. Strong people are ordinary people with powerful thoughts.

How do you describe the uncomfortable situations you face? Do you use weak words and expressions? Do you use strong words and expressions?

It is not the bad luck, climate, tiredness, distance, mother-in-law, insufficient resources, lack of attention, stacks against you, or others that lead us to misery. It is the way we describe and define the situations that is the root cause to our misery.

So, if you want to chase away the blues, throw out such words from your everyday vocabulary. You will find you are always happy when you choose the `powerful and positive' words.
